How’s this for an inspiring man? Dave’s dad, still out on the trails in his mid-80s…
Dave’s dad, Jack Gilbert, was a successful mile-runner in his 20s, until a logging accident shattered his knee. But he’s kept active throughout the 60 or so years since then, still getting out on the Port Alberni trails frequently.
Jack turns 85 today. In celebration of that, I want to share a couple of pix from a short hike that Dave and I did with him in October, to show him the new aluminum bridge over China Creek, which had just been installed as part of the Inlet Trail system. Happy birthday, Jack!
